Common was a guest on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” on Jan. 22, and he was not shy about expressing his feelings for the host. In a clip from the episode, Hudson playfully asks Common if he is dating anyone, and the audience erupts in cheers. Common laughs nervously and says, “So, yes. And I am in a relationship that is (with) one of the most beautiful people I have ever met in life.” He then proceeds to list the qualities that make Hudson special, such as her intelligence, her faith, her talent, and her achievements. He says he set his standard high because she had to have an EGOT, win an Oscar for her first movie, and get her talk show. Hudson giggles and says, “Oh, OK,” while the crowd applauds.
A Mushy Moment
The couple also shared a mushy moment on the show when Common complimented Hudson on her outfit. He said he wore yellow because it made him feel bright, and he wanted to wear it on her show because he was so enthused, inspired, and happy to be there. He said the material of his clothes reminded him of her because it was mushy. “You love mushy, so you want to look nice on the Jennifer Hudson show. You want to look good,” he said. Hudson agreed and said, “You look lovely,” and added, “You look so well-kept, and I love a well-kept man, honey.” The show’s Instagram account posted a picture of Common kissing Hudson on the cheek and captioned it, “Hip-hop legend @common joins us Monday! Trust us, you don’t want to miss this!”
A Long Time Coming
The romance between Common and Hudson has been speculated for a long time, as they were spotted together on several occasions since the summer of 2022. They also starred in a movie called Breathe, which is set to release this year. However, this is the first time they have publicly confirmed their relationship. Common also talked about his love life on TODAY with Hoda and Jenna on Jan. 22 and said he felt good about being honest with who he is and who they are. He said he has grown and worked on himself, and he feels like he is a marrying type. He said he would know when the right time was, and he would communicate with Hudson if she felt the same way.
