Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has been awarded the club’s Goal of the Month for October, thanks to his stunning strike in the Merseyside derby against Everton. The Egyptian forward scored the final goal in a 3-0 win at Anfield, as he capped off a brilliant counter-attack with a composed finish in front of the Kop.
Salah Continues His Scoring Streak
Salah has been in sensational form this season, scoring 12 goals in 14 appearances in all competitions. He is the joint-top scorer in the Premier League with nine goals, alongside Tottenham’s Harry Kane. He has also scored three goals in the Europa League, helping Liverpool top their group with four wins out of four.
Salah’s goal against Everton was his fifth of the month, as he also netted twice against Brighton and Hove Albion and once against Toulouse. His goal against the French side was also a contender for the Goal of the Month, as he curled a sublime shot into the top corner from outside the box.
Salah Praised by Klopp and Teammates
Salah’s performances have earned him praise from his manager Jurgen Klopp, who hailed him as “the complete player on and off the pitch”. Klopp said that Salah has improved his game in every aspect and that he is not showing any signs of slowing down despite being 30 years old.
Salah’s teammates have also expressed their admiration for him, with defender Virgil van Dijk calling him “one of the best players in the world”. Van Dijk said that Salah is a joy to play with and that he always works hard for the team. He also said that Salah is a humble and respectful person, who deserves all the accolades he gets.
Salah Breaks Records and Makes History
Salah’s goal against Everton was not only a beauty but also a historic one. It was his 100th goal for Liverpool in the Premier League, making him the fifth player to reach that milestone for the club. He is also the fastest to do so, taking only 151 games to achieve it.
Salah also became the first player to score in six consecutive Merseyside derbies, breaking the record held by Dixie Dean and Ian Rush. He has scored eight goals in total against Everton, making him the joint-second-highest scorer in the fixture, behind Rush’s 11.
Salah is also on the verge of breaking another record, as he is only five goals away from reaching 200 for Liverpool in all competitions. He has scored 195 goals in 262 games since joining the club in 2017, making him the fourth-highest scorer in the club’s history. He is behind only Rush (346), Roger Hunt (285), and Gordon Hodgson (241).
Salah will have the chance to add to his tally when Liverpool faces West Ham United on Sunday, in a top-of-the-table clash in the Premier League. The Reds are currently second, two points behind the leaders Chelsea, and one point ahead of the third-placed Hammers.
