The ticket sale for the 2024 edition of the Glastonbury Festival, one of the world’s most popular music events, has been delayed by two weeks due to some technical problems with the registration system. The organizers announced the postponement just hours before the first batch of tickets, which include coach travel, were supposed to go on sale on Thursday, November 2, at 6 pm GMT.
Registration problems affect some fans
According to the organizers, some fans who had registered before 2020 reported that their profiles had been deleted without clear notification. The organizers said they decided to delay the sale “out of fairness” to those affected by the issue. They also apologized for any inconvenience caused and thanked the fans for their patience.
The registration process is a mandatory step for anyone who wants to buy a ticket for the festival, which takes place at Worthy Farm in Somerset, England. Each person needs to register with their details and a photo, and then receive a unique registration number, which is required when booking a ticket. The registration also helps to prevent ticket touting and resale.
The organizers had previously notified the fans by email that profiles created before 2020 would be automatically deleted on October 2, and that they would need to re-register before October 30. However, some fans claimed they did not receive the email or were not aware of the deadline.
New dates for ticket sales announced
The organizers have now reopened the registration until Monday, November 13, at 5 pm GMT, giving the fans another chance to register or update their profiles. The ticket sale for the coach packages will now take place on Thursday, November 16, at 6 pm GMT, while the general admission tickets will go on sale on Sunday, November 19, at 9 am GMT.
The tickets for the 2024 festival will cost £355, plus a £5 booking fee, which is the highest price ever for the event. The tickets will be sold exclusively by See Tickets, the official ticket agent for the festival. Each person can buy up to six tickets, and everyone in the group needs to be registered, except for children under 12, who do not need a ticket or a registration number.
The fans who opt for the coach packages will also need to travel on the coach they book, as the tickets will be handed out on the coach. The coach packages are part of the festival’s efforts to reduce its environmental impact and encourage green travel.
Rumours swirl around possible headliners
The postponement of the ticket sale has added to the anticipation and excitement of the fans, who are eager to secure their spot at the festival, which returns in June 2024 after being canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The festival is known for its diverse and eclectic line-up, featuring some of the biggest names in music, as well as other forms of entertainment, such as cinema, circus, art, and performance.
The full line-up for the 2024 festival will not be revealed until late spring next year, but there have already been some rumors and speculations about the possible headliners. Some of the names that have been mentioned include Madonna, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Adele, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Kendrick Lamar and Oasis. The organizers have not confirmed or denied any of the rumors, but have hinted that they have some “great” acts booked for the event.
The festival will take place from June 26 to 30, 2024, at Worthy Farm, where it has been held since 1970. The festival attracts around 200,000 people every year, making it one of the largest and most iconic music events in the world.
